New Tribes with Old Tides

This past weekend before I went to Capernwray I had the privilege, through the invitation of my friend’s parents of where I had been staying, to attend the Annual New Tribes Mission Conference in Grimsby, England. It was a great time of hearing the interesting stories of missionaries that have returned from the field and also hearing from missionaries that were live in the field. During the weekend different missionaries gave sermons and one of them called Jack Douglas.
Jack Douglas gave a particular sermon that challenged me greatly. He spoke on living by faith and acting that faith out by sharing it to the nations. He first talked about Paul’s letter to the Romans and how he was longing to see them when he was traveling to Spain. He then moved on to read from a passage of scripture that captured my attention like a cold shower. He read from 2 Timothy 4:7-8 and that says:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
After reading and re-reading these lines from Paul’s letter to Timothy, I was extremely convicted and challenged. I took a look at my life and really questioned myself, “Have I kept the faith, when times have gotten tough? Have I fought a fight that is considered good in the eyes of Christ?” And when I reflected on those questions, I thought yeah… I have in some instances, but really have I always been dedicated to my faith?
I believe this day was another milestone in my relationship with Christ. For now I want to be able to have read at my funeral or written on my gravestone that Jeremy Schambach, fought the good fight, he kept the faith and now there is a crown of righteousness waiting for him.
But one thing I was reminded of while I was reading 2 Tim 4:7-8, was Colossians 1:27 and that says, “To them, God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” This just reminds me that even though I am fighting the fight and keeping the faith, it is not only me, but Christ in me that is achieving that status.

Sorry if that was a bit longer than the first, I just feel like this was a significant day for me and I just wanted to share a bit of what God is doing in my life while I am ministering abroad.

Germany

As my year in England drew to a quick end, I am amazed to find myself back in Europe less than a year later. God is so great! This time in my travels I am spending 13 days in Germany and 10 weeks in England.
I will be working at Bodenseehof and Capernwray Hall Torchbearer centers. Prayer requests are:

- Pray for the teens and people that I will be coming across both in the camps and in traveling. That God would use me and the time I have with them shine a little bit of Christ in their lives.

- Pray that as plans change and new people come and go, that God will challenge me to remain flexible ,for whatever he wants me to do.

- Pray that I may trust completely in Him, and rely on him for joy and strength.
